Gutters and Tiger Stripes
Just like your siding, concrete, and wood, gutters should be regularly cleaned and maintained. Often a customer will not notice that their gutters are dirty until the rest of the house has been cleaned. Suddenly the new white soffit and clean siding make the dirty gutters much more apparent. At Soft Works Power Washing we will always clean your gutters during a house wash using the soft wash method. Depending on what is making them dirty, the gutters will look brand new with just a regular house wash. At the very least they will look better than they did before! However the gutters will usually need extra attention in order to be restored to their original white.
Do you have “Tiger Stripes”?
If you do, you understood immediately why they are called tiger stripes. As you can see in the picture, these are black streaks down the face of the gutter. Multiple factors cause these stripes to occur. First, dirt and pollutants naturally build up in the gutter over time. Then, the gutters become partially or fully blocked and water is unable to flow through as it is should. The water is then forced to spill over the side, carrying the dirt and pollutants with it. Each time this happens the streaks become darker and more obvious, causing a striped effect.
Your gutters can go back to being utilitarian and inconspicuous with a little extra cleaning agents and elbow grease. After all, don’t you want people seeing your clean house, not your dirty gutters? Call us to clean your house, your driveway, your roof…and your gutters!
